Maternal and child health is an important public health issue because:

Maternal and child health (MCH) care is the health service provided to mothers (women in their childbearing age) and children. The targets for MCH are all women in their reproductive age groups, i.e., 15 – 49 years of age, children, school age population and adolescents.

Maternal health plays a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of both the mother and the child. A healthy pregnancy is essential for the healthy growth and development of the fetus, and it can reduce the risk of infant mortality and morbidity. We have the opportunity to end preventable deaths among all women, children and adolescents and to greatly improve their health and well-being.

far too many women, infants and children worldwide still have little or no access to essential, quality health services and education, clean air and water, and adequate sanitation and nutrition.

Investments in prevention, health care and education last a lifetime.

Together with our partners, RHAC-Uganda is improving the health and well-being of women, children and adolescents, in support of global Every Woman Every Child movement.
