Our Child & Family Protection Program aims to ensure the safety and well-being of children and their families by preventing abuse, providing support services, and fostering a protective environment. Here are key activities of RHAC-Uganda’s Child Protection Program:

  1. Prevention and Education
  • Public Awareness Campaigns:  Annually we Launch campaigns to educate the community about child abuse, neglect, and the importance of family protection. climaxing on the international day of African Child on June 16.
  • Parenting Workshops: are conducted to teach positive parenting skills, stress management, and effective communication.
  • School Programs: Implement programs in schools to teach children about their rights, personal safety, and how to seek help if they are in danger.
  1. Support Services for Families
  • Counseling and Mental Health Services: We provide counseling and mental health support for children and families dealing with abuse or trauma.
  • Family Strengthening Programs: We offer resources and training to help families build healthy relationships and supportive environments.
  • Childcare Services: We provide access to quality childcare to relieve stress on parents and ensure children are in safe environments.
  1. Protection and Crisis Intervention
  • Hotlines and Helplines: We have established hotlines for reporting child abuse and seeking help, ensuring they are accessible 24/7.
  • Crisis Intervention Teams: Create teams to respond quickly to reports of child abuse or family violence, providing immediate support and protection.
  • Safe Houses and Shelters: We ensure children are provided safe accommodations for children and families escaping abusive situations.
  1. Legal and Policy Advocacy
  • Legal Aid Services: Offer legal assistance to families navigating custody issues, protection orders, and other legal matters related to abuse and neglect.
  • Policy Advocacy: Advocate for policies and legislation that protect children’s rights and support family welfare.
  • Training for Law Enforcement: Train police and other law enforcement personnel on how to handle cases of child abuse and domestic violence sensitively and effectively.
  1. Healthcare Services
  • Medical Care for Abuse Victims: We ensure access to comprehensive medical care for children and family members who have experienced abuse.
  • Preventive Healthcare: Provide regular health check-ups and preventive care services to monitor and promote the health of children and families.
  • Mental Health Support: We offer specialized mental health services for children who have experienced trauma or abuse.
  1. Educational and Economic Support
  • Scholarship Programs: RHAC-Uganda provides educational scholarships and support for children from vulnerable families to ensure they can continue their education. Download the Application Here
  • Job Training and Employment Services: We offer vocational training and job placement services for parents to improve family stability and economic security.
  • Financial Assistance Programs: Provide financial support to families in crisis to help them meet basic needs and reduce stress.
  1. Community and Peer Support
  • Support Groups: Creating support groups for parents and children to share experiences, provide mutual support, and build resilience.
  • Mentorship Programs: Establishing mentorship programs where experienced parents or community members support families facing challenges.
  • Community Centers: We develop community centers that offer a safe space for families to access resources, participate in activities, and receive support.
  1. Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collect data on program effectiveness, child abuse cases, and family needs to inform ongoing improvements.
  • Regular Assessments: Conducting regular assessments to evaluate the impact of the program and make necessary adjustments.
  • Feedback Mechanisms: Implement mechanisms for families and children to provide feedback on services and suggest improvements.
  1. Partnerships and Collaboration
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work with healthcare providers, schools, law enforcement, and social services to create a coordinated response to child and family protection.
  • Community Partnerships: Partner with local organizations and community leaders to strengthen support networks and resource availability.
  • International and National Networks: Collaborate with national and international organizations to share best practices and leverage additional resources.
  1. Cultural and Recreational Activities
  • Recreational Programs: Organize sports, arts, and recreational activities that provide safe and enriching experiences for children.
  • Cultural Sensitivity Training: Ensure program staff are trained in cultural sensitivity to respect and address the diverse needs of families.
  • Family Events: Host family-friendly events that foster bonding, community building, and positive family interactions.

By incorporating these activities into our Child & Family Protection Program we have created a holistic support system that addresses the needs of children and their families, ensuring their safety, health, and well-being.
