Our health depends on what we eat, nutrition is about eating a healthy and balanced diet. Food and drink provide the energy and nutrients you need to be healthy. Understanding these nutrition terms may make it easier for our project participants to make better food choices.

Involving men in “nutritious sensitive budgeting” is very crucial in relieving women from taking the burden of ensuring right food is brought to dining table. Children develop fast and healthy when they are fed with right diet, pregnant and lactating women are often victims of undernourishment due to economic hardships and care for the young ones at home. They too require adequate nutrients for their body and the developing baby. Balanced is central to the overall health of our bodies, over nourishment is as bad as undernourishment and hence the need for balanced diet.

RHAC-Uganda provides Community Nutrition Programs under the nutrition sensitive program providing information to families regarding farmer’s markets and the importance of fruit and vegetables in a diet as they relate to disease. Further, cooking classes may be offered to offer suggestions on how to prepare the food purchased at farmers’ markets.

Our farmers alike are encouraged to grow vegetables that can enable their households consume diet rich meals for healthy families.

Nutrition programs are always intertwined with WASH because they interconnects to achieve the desired health outcome.
